Blurb: Protect friendship, family or a creature that’s not supposed to exist?
Ana and Daisy have been friends since third grade, but a rift in the space-time continuum in their little town may change that. When a unicorn waltzes into the pasture with Daisy’s appaloosas, a poacher, who will stop at nothing to gain the unicorn horn and its healing tears, shows up. Daisy is focused on saving the unicorn while Ana’s parents face sudden life-threatening health issues. When Ana learns about the healing tears, she’s forced to choose between friendship and her family’s health.
Can the girls find the grace to compromise and save Ana’s parents and the unicorn?

By my junior high years, my sister and I had developed rather large sticker collections. My dad was great at finding freebies for us from various vendors, but we really loved Lisa Frank stickers and the whimsical fantasy they brought with them. My favorites were her unicorns. I gathered as many as I could. Even through high school unicorns remained my favorite mythical creature. I loved the purity, the horse shape, and their pearlescent horns. My husband purchased a small unicorn figurine for me when we were just dating.
So, if I loved unicorns that much, why has it taken this long to write a story about unicorns? I actually don’t know. My best answer is that the dragon stories just told themselves. Yet, with that being said, I really love Kajri. Her character was fun to play with. I enjoyed showing our world from the point of view of a unicorn.
While writing the story, I discovered that there’s an actual National Unicorn Day in Scotland on April 9, so that’s when An Unexpected Escapade will release. Although unicorns date back as far as Greek mythology, there’s really not a lot known about them. This made writing Jack’s character a bit difficult. I had to decide what made him tick and why he was after the unicorn. Most fantasies have the horn with healing powers so that’s what I went with for Kajri. However, I unearthed mentions of unicorn tears in makeup and cosmetics. So, that became a key as well.
I’m glad to have finally written a book about the creature that filled my junior high and high school years. I have no clue what other stories are stored up in my brain, but I’m sure there will be more interesting creatures as I explore other worlds.
Even as a young girl, Kandi J Wyatt, had a knack for words. She loved to read them, even if it was on a shampoo bottle! By high school Kandi had learned to put words together on paper to create stories for those she loved. Nowadays, she writes for her kids, whether that’s her own five or the hundreds of students she’s been lucky to teach. When Kandi’s not spinning words to create stories, she’s using them to teach students about Spanish, life, and leadership.
Btw, book 1 in the series – An Unexpected Adventure – is on sale for $0.99 from March 11-18. That means you can snap up both volumes for $2 is you act now.
